Season 107 Episode 3651
You own your health care data – You should get paid for it
Not only are Americans experiencing more health challenges, our medical data is being bought and sold for about $50B each year in the United States. Of course, it’s “HIPAA compliant’ because the patient’s identifying information is removed from the file, but it’s still the patient’s data. JennyCo was founded with a deep belief that data is empowering. It can improve outcomes and empower better, personalized decisions for health, and it can also represent compensation for the data owner. Jenny Diggles is the co-founder of JennyCo, a soon-to-be-released Web 3.0 app that allows users to store their medical and wellness information securely; and earn rewards for the leasing of their data and for using the personalized AI-generated recommendations. The model of genetic companies (like Ancestry or 23&Me) is to make money through the sale of customer data. Genetic records are being sold for up to $30,000 per individual record. JennyCo founders agreed this had to be addressed. Give people the power of precision information, and give them the power to make money from what they already own.
