Jonathan Arevalo is a dedicated stroke survivor, volunteer, and advocate whose personal journey has led him to become a passionate supporter of those affected by stroke, mental health challenges, and disabilities. On January 1, 2021, Jonathan suffered a life-altering event: an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture in the left side of his brain, which caused an aneurysm. The intense pain and symptoms-including severe headaches, memory loss, and speech difficulties— prompted an emergency visit to Mississauga Credit Valley Hospital. Within days, Jonathan was transferred to St.Michael's Hospital in Toronto, where a team of specialists worked tirelessly to treat the AVM, which miraculously stopped bleeding on its own. Following seven days of intensive care, Jonathan returned home to recover, staying with his parents to heal. He underwent two surgeries, including an angiogram and a radiosurgery gamma knife procedure, both of which are part of a long healing process that typically takes 3 years or more!
