Why Men Don’t Talk | The Silent Burden Men Carry Season 6 Ep 30
What happens when men are taught to be strong but never taught how to heal?
In this powerful episode of Girl Talk Mental Health, host Virginia Dale Manning, LPC-S — The Realist Therapist sits down with special guest Dontay Williams, LPC to explore a silent crisis happening in homes, marriages, workplaces, and friendships across the world.
Men are grieving.
Men are depressed.
Men are overwhelmed.
But many have been conditioned to suffer silently.
From childhood messages like “man up” and “boys don’t cry,” to cultural expectations that equate emotional vulnerability with weakness, countless men are fighting internal battles they feel they must face alone.
In this episode, we unpack:
✔ Why many men struggle to talk about grief and depression
✔ How suppressed emotions impact mental and physical health
✔ What loved ones often misunderstand about men’s emotional struggles
This conversation is not about blaming men.
It’s about understanding them.
Because behind many “strong” men is a story no one ever asked them to tell.
If you are a man carrying silent pain, or someone who loves a man who struggles to open up, this episode could change the way you understand mental health forever.
You are not alone.
And healing does not require suffering in silence.
And if conversations like this matter to you, subscribe to Girl Talk Mental Health so more people struggling silently can find hope.
