Saved by God from Drowning Herself - Now Transforming Africa with Dr. Theo Fokukora | Hilary Burns | S7EP5

Kicked out of her home at age 13 in Uganda, Dr. Theo was saved the first time by the sisters at a convent. She lived there for several years and was able to finish her schooling. It was difficult. She was vulnerable, alone, and frightened. Theo was able to go to University by the grace of God and a benevolent Archbishop.

She finished her schooling and got married. She had 3 children and became a nurse. After an almost fatal accident, however, she found herself alone again. Listen to our riveting conversation to learn how Dr. Theo was abandoned by her husband, and tried to drown herself.

Again, by the grace of God, she was saved. She moved to a new area, went back to school, and was introduced to Daniel Kamanga, another Getting Real with Hilary guest, who introduced her to the African Women's Leadership program where she was able to transform her early trauma through forgiveness. She started healing and is now giving back to the youth of Africa.

Dr. Theo's mission is to transform Africa. She is focused on young people - reducing mental illness, drug addiction, sexual abuse, unemployment and overall disempowerment. Please listen to this powerful interview. We are all one world and can connect with others in need.

Theopista Fokukora (Theo), a Ugandan national, holds a PhD in Family, Population and Reproductive Health, along with degrees in public health, health service management, and nursing. She is the founder of Adolecentric Global, focused on empowering vulnerable mothers, refugee women, and teenage girls through education, rights advocacy, mental health, and financial empowerment.
She contributes to global initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and supports safe water access as an Impact Manager at SPOUTS of Water.
With experience in monitoring, evaluation, and leadership training, Theo has led impactful projects across Africa. She is committed to social justice, equity, and building partnerships that drive measurable, long-term change.
