Tip from James Case from “Adventures in Truth”

I wanted to share some things I discovered with StreamYard that have made my production life much easier. I use my Lives and convert them to podcasts so our shows can get maximum exposure on as many platform as possible. Here’s how I do it:

  1. After your Live is over you will see that the clock in the menu bar changes to say “this broadcast has ended”. Right next to that is a drop down menu that says “Links”. Here you will find that you can immediately download your show in both mp4 (video) and mp3 (audio) formats. So you have either file type you need to post or share or use however you need. These files are fully editable.
  2. You can also access these files later by going on StreamYard and entering the broadcast studio. Click the tab for “Past Broadcasts”. Find the episode you want to download. (You don’t need to enter the show). Click the “More” button to the right. Click download episode. This has the same options as above- full video or audio only.
  3. I use Audacity to produce a completed podcast product with intro, segways, commercials, and extro. That completed file becomes my fully realized podcast. On average it takes about 30 minutes to produce- putting in the aforementioned stuff and to write the copy, tags, etc.
  4. I then upload the fully produced podcast episode up on my podcast hosting site. I use Captivate. Been with them over a year. Super great company, tons of support, easy to use interface that pumps out my episodes to all the major platforms. They have a bunch and you can add others, so you can reach a bunch! Apple, Deezer, Stitcher, Podcast Addict, Spotify, Castbox, etc.
  5. I am doing two shows a week with e360tv, so I don’t need to rush to produce them into podcasts. I’m finding my podcast of the Livecast will go out 2-4 weeks after the live. I currently have two podcasts scheduled to release over the next week and a half. This gives me time to create content for the Lives and produce the content for the podcasts without making myself crazy. It has a really nice flow.
