Thanksgiving is a big holiday for many. It is a time where families come together and share all they are grateful for. But what if during this time of thanks, you were delivered the horrific news that your husband was killed.
Velma has crossed many hurdles in her life. Immigrating from Bosnia with her famly who were escaping a civil war, building a life in a foreign country with little to no support, starting a career in real estate on her own and then having to raise her two daughters after the death of their father.
We all have hurdles in life; it is important to know that when they come, we have to leap over them. In this moving talk, Velma shares her story of growth, grief, gratitude, and gifts. She shares thoughts on:

Velma is a hero just as her husband Cody was, and she continues to fight daily and remind all of us that no matter what happens, you must move forward.
BIO:
Not only a mom and a wife with a beautiful family, Velma is also a widow, whose husband was a Colorado State Trooper and was killed in the line of duty by a truck driver in 2016. Immigrating as a child from Bosnia, her family escaped the civil war and immigrated to America.
Velma built a successful real estate career but decided to step away and put her focus on her family and raising awareness toward safety after the death of her husband Cody. With her family, Velma helped to pass the Move Over Law was the start of that. To aid the families of first responders. She is also working to pass a new bill The latest bill for a Workers Compensation law that will allow widow and widowers to get remarried and continue to receive their benefits.
