In this episode of Make Mental Health Matter Kelli shares Beth Carlson's life experience with Complex PTSD and how hard it really was until she was able to tap into life with healing, and tools that help her manage symptoms, if they come up. She has found that life is much more joyful and powerful than she could have ever imagined!
Beth Carlson earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resource Tourism from Colorado State University. She then went on to graduate from The Healing Arts Institute in 2009, where she was hired as their Clinic Supervisor, and taught many classes in their massage therapy program for 6 years. Beth has owned her successful Massage Therapy practice for 14 years, specializing in Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Therapy. She’s been a Transformational Coach for 5 years, earning her Master Practitioner Certification, as well as her Consultant and Trainer Certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Beth facilitates training, women’s circles, and workshops with her clients and students from around the world. She lives in northern Colorado with her amazing husband, Chris, and beautiful cat, Brisby.

In this episode of Make Mental Health Matter, with the theme of Mental Health Mondays, Kelli chats with Marcella Raimondo, PhD, MPH is a passionate and spirited clinical trainer speaking from her heart on social justice and eating disorders since 1995.
In 1997, Marcella worked with About-Face, a nonprofit organization that addresses media impact on body image serving as the Director of Media Literacy until 2005. Today she is on the About-Face Board of Founders and a consultant.
She was also on the Advisory Board for the Association of Size Health and Diversity (ASDAH), on the Advisory Board of Eating Disorder Recovery Support (EDRS) as Past President and served as Co-Chair of the Academy of Eating Disorders Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee.
Marcella received her B.A. from UC Berkeley, and Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan. Marcella’s desire to address eating disorders drove her to pursue her doctorate in clinical psychology, receiving her PhD in 2012. She completed her post- doc internships at an eating disorder outpatient program and an eating disorder residential program for adolescents.
Marcella currently serves as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY # 27037) in Kaiser Permanente’s eating disorder clinic in Oakland and runs a private practice. Marcella herself recovered from anorexia nervosa over 20 years ago. Marcella trains in Kajukenbo at Hand to Hand Kajukenbo Self Defense Center in Oakland. She holds a second degree black belt and enjoys the exploratory path her training gives her. Her eating disorder recovery and her martial arts training inspire her dedication to multicultural body nurturance and community celebration.

On today’s episode of Make Mental Health Matter show special guest Curtis Jones will tell us his story about his depression that lasted 9 years.
After leaving home for college and running close to 4 minutes in the mile on the track team, an injury sent Curtis spiraling into 3 years of debilitating depression. After dropping out of school with a 1.8 GPA and enlisting in the military in hopes of a new beginning, he awoke on his enlistment date to discover it was the day that the planes hit the towers. After traveling around the world with the Navy and experiencing another 6 years of functional depression, Curtis found the key that freed him from his 9 year depression.
