Janice Williams has practiced in the field of social work for over 39 years. Presently she is in private practice and provides clinical services for the Loraine County School District, nursing homes, as well as to individuals, children and families. Our conversation will be about the seldom discussed topic of mothers who choose their men over their daughters and the impact it has on daughters. Mrs. Williams has been the director of a National Youth Employment Program, a Female Offender Program, outpatient services for various mental health and youth services, and also served as the executive director of a YWCA in Ohio. In addition, she served as an adjunct professor for Cleveland State University. Mrs. Williams co-founded Harambee Services to Black Families, Cleveland Ohio’s first African American adoption agency, where she served as executive director for two years.
The Puddle Project provides pregnant teens and their partners with life skills and parenting techniques through our mentorship program. Each member is paired with a personal mentor. The project supports and guides teens through parenthood as well as their academic and professional careers. Additionally, the Puddle Project provides teens with resources and information on their health, education, childcare, and employment.
Dr. Lewis conducts international research with children and young adults who provide care for sick or disabled family members and friends. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, she has cared for her disabled mother since she was 11 years old. This experience led her to research lives of young caregivers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe. While continuing to build impact through research, Dr. Lewis remains committed to raising the profile of young caregivers through blog writing, podcasts, and speaking engagements around the world.
Ms. Threatt is a Grief Transformational Expert, who will have a conversation with us about surviving grief. She is the author of "Living and Loving Your Way Through Grief". A book that is extremely helpful to people who are going through the grief process.
