Dr. Telishia Berry is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Courageous Woman Magazine, an inspirational publication that highlights extraordinary women in business and entertainment, as well as provides media services to help women promote their products, services, and books. It was during her divorce that she used her faith and determination and the $30 she had in her bank account to transform the Courageous Woman Blog into a magazine and distribute 4,000 print copies of the 1st issue. In 2022, Courageous Woman Magazine will celebrate 11 years of publishing, distributing over 2,000 articles, and 150+ cover stories, including celebrities such as Vanessa Bell Calloway, Mo’Nique, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Vickie Winans, Jody Watley, Claressa Shields, and Oleta Adams.
Future Endeavors:
In addition to writing and producing movies, Telishia is excited about returning to where it all began, the theater. She spent many years acting on stage then went on to write, produce, and direct award-winning musical stage plays. She was recently cast in an upcoming movie and looking forward to performing again.
Awards:
She is the recipient of numerous awards, including an honorary doctorate (TIUA), a Lifetime Achievement Award from President Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris, a Humanitarian Award, a WIP Award (Women in Power), a Phenomenal Woman Award, a Resolution Award, Publishing Excellence Award, Best Media Platform Award, and Black Business Women Rock Award, Just For Her Magazine Award for Women in the Arts. She is the mother of four adults: Kendre' Berry, a film and TV actor, most known for his role as Jabari on the TV sitcom, Girlfriends; Tisha, a filmmaker and official photographer for music artist Ciara; Toi, a fashion model who has worked for numerous fashion companies; and daughter Kennedy, a hair and makeup stylist. She is proud to be called “Granny” by her grandson Ezra.

Dr. Latame Phillips was born in San Diego, CA attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles receiving a degree in Business Management. After graduation, Latame served his country in the United States Army and while stationed in Virginia he became a youth pastor which increased his need to serve the community.
Latame is now the Executive Director for Hunger Busters and works with students to teach financial empowerment to young scholars. Phillips is also a part of the Emerging Leaders of Philanthropy with Communities Foundation of Texas, Mayor’s Star Council, Leadership Dallas, works with TEDx Frisco, and serves on several nonprofit and for-profit boards.
Latame has also earned a Ph. D in Business Entrepreneurship and Business Administration.
He classifies himself as a sports fanatic and loves to watch, talk, and play sports whenever he can.
Kevin Rouse is a Los Angeles Event Promoter and Real Estate Specialist born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Kevin is the Owner of Rouse House Entertainment known for celebrity events and a long-standing member of First Fridays Productions also a realtor with EXP Realty of California, Inc. Joshua A. Cooley was born in Misawa Japan. He is a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He will be spending most of his first year in the Navy on a ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
He attended California State Poly Pomona. Prior to college and the United States Navy, Joshua
completed four years of JROTC in High School.
Joshua has a deep compassion for music and has composed over 100 songs primarily for movie trailers.
He has worked and dedicated many years working with The JC Cooley Foundation. Joshua has been on over several mission trips overseas and field trips to The Museum of Tolerance. He has volunteered at numerous JC Cooley Foundation Youth Inspirational Leadership Breakfast programs. This breakfast program was instrumental in serving over 10,000 plus Youth and Young Adults that ensured that our Today’s Youth and Young Adults are prepared to tackle tomorrow’s challenges.

Paul Downey is the President and CEO of Serving Seniors in San Diego. Since being appointed to the role in 1995, Downey has guided the agency’s innovative efforts to provide supportive services focused on keeping low-income seniors healthy and independent.
Under Downey’s leadership, Serving Seniors has grown to serve 1.5 million nutritious congregate and home delivered meals annually, 365 days per year, at sites throughout San Diego County. The agency’s service provision model – including case management, healthcare, mental healthcare, dental (through a collaborative partner), activities, and civic engagement -- is a national model for seniors living in poverty.
Serving Seniors has provided transitional housing and wraparound case management for unsheltered older adults for more than 20 years and owns/operates 412 units of affordable senior housing with support services. The agency will open a new 117-unit affordable senior residence this summer and break ground in early 2023 on a 174-unit complex that will include a full-service senior center.
Downey currently co-chairs the County of San Diego’s Elder Protection Council; serves on the Continuum of Care Board for the Regional Task Force on the Homelessness (and chairs are Aging and Homelessness Committee), and previously served as the chair of the California Commission on Aging; chair of the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs; chair of the Dean’s Advisory Board, SDSU College of Health and Human Services; board member for the American Society on Aging; among many other roles. As a result of these efforts, Downey was invited by President Obama to participate in the White House Conference on Aging in 2015.
Downey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from San Diego State University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Harvard Business School.
