S1 E27 - Bipoc Centered Private Practice With Dr. Jasmine Reed

It is my distinct honor to share with my audience Dr. Jasmine Reed. Dr. Reed, a licensed psychologist, has been a staunch advocate for communities of color for over a decade. Championing quality mental health services, she founded Ubuntu Psychological Services in 2020.
I can't leave you all without knowing what Ubuntu means. I was honored to discuss and learn about this principle researching and writing my dissertation while in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Ubuntu is a South African term and philosophy originating in the Xhosa and Zulu languages. It means, "I am because we are." The philosophy focuses on the interconnectedness of people and became even more solidified within the culture to combat the ravages and vestiges of apartheid.
