S1E1 - Saving Our Heroes, One Dog at a Time": A Veteran's Crusade against Suicide

Welcome to Launch of One Punch SuperStars! Hear the stories and see the faces of those who have fought for their hopes and their dreams to become the CHAMPIONS of their own destiny. One this episode meet Steve Corey, the founder and director of Victory Service Dogs, believes in helping veterans, first responders, and children gain an improved quality of life through the partnership of a loving service dog. Steve shares his founding desire in saving lives and providing second chances – for both our client and the dog. This means being able to provide our clients with an affordable service dog without having to sacrifice high quality training. VSD was founded in 2015 and is a registered 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, run by a small board of directors, staff, and passionate volunteer base. Many service dog organizations have costs ranging from $20,000 to $35,000 for a fully-trained service dog that may not even bond with the client. The majority of these organizations have a 3-4 year waiting list - an overwhelming amount of time for a client to have to wait. Due to their unique client-based training program, we can provide veterans and first responders with an affordable and therapeutic means to get the service dog they deserve. Through weekly classes, each veteran-dog team meets with one of our trainers to learn how to effectively train their own dog as a service dog - meaning at the end of the program, each dog is uniquely bonded to it's handler and equipped for their very specific needs. We currently offer training for tasks associated with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Military Sexual Trauma (MST), mobility, and other physical issues.
