Bryn Lottig has recorded a Ted Talk despite it being WAY out of her comfort zone. How did she learn to do what scares her?
Through experiential learning. She found it by accident in college when she was invited to go on a wilderness trip. And she was hooked. She got college credits by camping across the world which helped her become more independent and confident in her life.
She continued to learn about experiential learning and met Kendra Bostick, her now partner while getting her master's. She and Kendra bonded while camping in many places around the world. David Winning, award winning director, was a repeat guest this week. He is promoting his new Hallmark movie that airs on October 14th at 8:00 PM called Field Day. The movie is a little of a different spin for Hallmark, still romance, but it is not the focus of the movie. (I know, what?)
The trailers look amazing and I can't wait to watch the film. This interview talks about David's 40 years in the movie business. I personally find it fascinating...how the movie is made, what do all the different people do, how it is put together, etc.

Choosing foster care over living at home with her mother shaped Mary's life in a significant way. When her fiancé committed suicide in her 30's, Mary's life was shaken up radically again. But Mary did not let her fear or traumas stop her from living life.
When Mary discovered her calling to be a writer, she boldly declared: "I will be a writer and nothing will stop me." This was the beginning of everything good in her life.
Mary was proud to be accepted into the Iowa Writer's Workshop. In Iowa, she developed herself as a memoir writer. She used writing to make sense of her childhood and her fiance's death. She explored life after death, talking to the deceased, and even spent 7 exciting days in the psych ward. Mary has continued to heal through writing and many other healing modalities.

Brigitte Deneck was born in Northern France. She learned not to feel, talk or trust in her childhood home with her alcoholic father. She didn't see the impact of this until later in life. Brigitte studied in Paris during a time of upheaval on college campuses. One day, while in the university library, she watched local police beating college students outside her third story window.
This riot was the beginning of a historical shift and cultural transformation that occurred during the 1960's. Brigitte left her educational path to pursue her childhood passion of performance games. As the creativity of society blossomed, Brigitte participated in the US, France and then Poland, reveling in the new realms of theater being created. She loved when the audience and actors participated together, spontaneously bursting into song. This type of theater provided experiential learning, creating a transformation at the group level.
Brigitte's training in using her body led her to voice coaching. Seeing that her childhood trauma froze her ability to feel, talk or trust, she started learning to be free to be in her body and to be herself. She experienced a magic and bliss and wanted to share this with others. She trained to be a voice coach and has made a huge contribution to others for the last 20 years.
Her goal is to have people be empowered through authenticity of breath and voice AND authenticity of listening. Her commitment is to bring this work to as many people as possible, so they will be more aware of their power, be more authentic and not pretend in their bodies.

As Brigitte grew up in northern France, she developed a passion for studies which led her to postgraduate studies in Politics in Paris, with a dream to become a journalist. What awaited her there in 1968 was actually a shift and a radical questioning of society and culture.
She wanted to let people know what was happening. But rather than journalism or politics which disappointed her, she chose to develop a path of personal development which she called Acting Dynamics.
She was also recovering from principles learned in childhood such as “Don’t Talk Don’t Trust Don’t Feel”, in group therapies. Kristen Mangione was bullied and sexually abused as a child. She suppressed her natural self, deciding it was dangerous to be herself.
Always a dancer, she accidentally discovered ways to heal her shame and trauma through dance. She kept pursuing ways of using her choreography and dance. Introduced to Japanese Shiatsu, she experienced a powerful transformation that she decided to combine with her passion for dance. John Hewson has an interesting story. He was a successful corporate businessman until his second cancer scare. "Where is your stress coming from?" he was asked.
He loved his job and wasn't aware that he was stressed at all. He decided to move out of New York City and become a ski bumb. He was led to Whistler where he encountered indigenous children who told a moving story. John has since dedicated his life to returning dignity and respect to these native Canadians.

As a young girl, Heather Shapter had a dream of ending poverty. She started her first charity at age 17. She is now the Executive Director of Crossroads International, a 65-year-old organization that fights for the rights of girls and women.

After 27 years as an attorney, Carla Barrow decided to create a new career that connected more to her real self and her soul. Gifty Volimkarime works for Crossroads International and is a country manager for Ghana. Together they are making lasting changes for girls and women. They work with local partners who are at the grassroots level and can influence girls and women at an individual level.
They are educating the communities so that their initiatives are accepted, adopted, and can last. The wisdom of the leaders of these organizations is inspiring. We discussed 4 areas that they are currently at work on:
- keeping girls in school so they can be properly educated
- developing female leadership
- reducing gender-based violence
- protecting and dignifying elder women in the community

Jack Blackwell was neglected, weak, and struggling for his first 18 years. He carried shame and had to be careful in order to survive his stepfather's rage.
Jack participated in a family constellation around the age of 35 which opened his eyes to the fact that he had inherited the shame and trauma from prior generations. This negative energy was passed to him at birth.
He recently healed the challenge with his mother and now feels only love for her.

Born in Bulgaria, Maria was a champion at everything she tried - gymnastics, make-up, classical guitar, and she already spoke 4 languages. At the age of 12, however, she became isolated, depressed and felt alone. By age 19, she wanted to commit suicide.
She started studying psychology to try to heal herself. During her journey, she moved to Sweden to follow a man who fell in love with her. She started studying how to find the light within herself. She spent many years at this, finally accepting the darkness within herself which gave her access to the light.
Maria now spreads her light to others, working with people in hospice, and through her transformational coaching. She has become a spiritual leader and makes a difference throughout the world.
