On this episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt has special guests Joe Huisman and AJ Finney.
Second Chance Comedy Veterans Day Show at The Village Workspace in Centennial, CO.
AJ and Joe share their stories about how and why they became comedians. Wonderful and hilarious conversation.
AJ’s Bio:
Stylistically manic, artistically brilliant, AJ Finney is an eclectic midwesterner with a passion for the psychedelic scene of the Sixties. Comedy, jam bands and Volkswagens — that’s him. He’s an eco-friendly, improvisational, sometimes philosophical, patchouli-soaked quipster. AJ’s organic approach is refreshing and his poetic stream of consciousness style makes for a colorful and unforgettable comedic experience. His audience (much like the Deadheads) are finding him through alternative venues such as music festivals, head shops, and record stores. In 2014 AJ was crowned “Best of the Midwest” winner at Gilda’s LaughFest in Grand Rapids, was featured on the FOX television show Laughs, and was one of the 100 performers chosen for Season 8 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. In 2013 he was a semifinalist in the Comedy Central talent search Up Next, as well as a finalist in the 2011 San Francisco International Comedy Competition. He was voted “Best in Fest” at the 2011 Detroit LaughFest and was a finalist in HBO’s Lucky 21 comedy competition. AJ is an effective and engaging storyteller with a rhythm that quickly pulls you into his world. You'll laugh until you leave and then later you'll laugh again.
Joe’s bio:
Joe Huisman, founder and creator of Second Chance Comedy, is living proof that you can turn your life around—and make people laugh while doing it. A customer support executive by day, Joe started doing stand up comedy in 2023. Years ago, Joe battled a crack addiction, and now he uses those past struggles as comedic fuel, transforming tough experiences into hilarious anecdotes. His comedy not only brings laughter but also gives back to the community, with a portion of proceeds supporting Sobriety House.

Have you ever wondered why certain emotions linger — even when you think you’ve “moved on”?
Or why your body reacts with tension, fatigue, or sleeplessness long after an emotional wound?
In this powerful episode of Chronically Healthy Life, host Kristy Boyd Johnson welcomes Jessica Hammock, Trauma Recovery Coach, and Amanda Beth Johnson, Intuitive Theta Healer, to explore the deep connection between emotional wounds and physical wellness.
Together, they reveal:
🌿 Why emotions like anger or grief often live in specific organs (yes, your liver remembers!)
💡 How trauma is an injury — not a flaw or a weakness
🧘♀️ Why healing happens in layers, not all at once
✍️ And how to begin right now with Jessica’s simple 3-step practice: Write it out. Talk it out. Move it out.
You’ll walk away with a renewed sense of compassion for yourself, a deeper understanding of your body’s wisdom, and a reminder that healing is not linear — it’s a journey back to your authentic self.
✨ You’re not broken. You’re becoming whole.
