June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month. Worldwide, more than 55 million people are living with Alzheimer's or another dementia. “Caregiving often calls for us to lean into love we didn't know possible.” Join the Alzheimer's Association in going purple and raising awareness this June. The more that people know about Alzheimer's, the more action we inspire. Purple is the official color of the Alzheimer’s movement. Go Purple to Raise Awareness for Alzheimer’s. This year, Scotland is promoting Dementia Awareness Week from Monday 29 May until Sunday 4 June. The blue flower pin is a symbol for anyone who wants to raise awareness of dementia and support people affected by the condition . The flower is a forget-me-not, a small blue flower that represents remembrance and is long associated with dementia. People with dementia may experience memory loss, among other symptoms. This makes the forget-me-not the perfect flower to represent our cause.
My caregiver mantra is to remember: “the only control you have is over the changes you choose to make. To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors. A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything.”
