Bathrobe Moments heads into the world of Quilting w/Susan Leonard
Susan was passionate about needle and thread from childhood. She began early to remake clothing for herself and others. She continues to enjoy deconstructing men’s and women’s apparel to create new work. She is mostly self-taught with a few classes and tutorials from Smithsonian experts and local Philadelphia artists. While working full time for the Federal government in Washington, DC, her work was limited to small projects created in a corner of her Capitol Hill apartment in her spare time. After her retirement and move to the Philadelphia area in 2005, she created a home studio, an artist group and many clientele. Now an award-winning artist, Susan’s work has been shown in local, national and international exhibitions. Her art can be found in private collections across the United States and England. About 50 percent of her work is commissions. She’s made time to work on a series of pieces to honor the loss of her son two years ago. She’s delighted to talk to individuals and groups about her commissions and her personal work and has begun to write about her experiences. Susan was born in New Jersey and has spent equal amounts of time living in country and city settings. She has lived most of her life in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, PA. She currently resides outside Philadelphia. Susan is a member of Studio Art Quilts Associates and Heartstrings Quilt Guild. 🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up?
