Dennis Postma
I am a five time cancer survivor and para-archer. I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 10 where the doctors gave me a 50% chance of making it, which they also said that I will not make the age of 20. The second time it returned they gave me a 5% chance of making it and said that I will not see the end of that year and it was November already. At the age of 19 literally a couple of hours before my 20th birthday I had a big motorbike accident, which landed me in a coma for two days, for about two months I couldn’t walk, but the worst of all I lost the use of my left arm and I was left handed. Today I am one of the top para-archers in the country, I have recovered and mentally got stronger than I ever thought I would. Today I use the lessons I have learned through my hardships and recovery to motivate other people. I use my archery as an example to motivate and inspire those around me. I could have stayed down but I made the decision to be brave and get up and beat the odds.

Len Tran is the founder of Kinetic Mind LLC, a coaching and training company that helps individuals increase their productivity and getting results. Before devoting his time to Kinetic Mind, he has been working as an engineer for more than twenty-five years and serving as a manager for twenty years. Len is also an author of “Split Up by the Sea, A Vietnamese refugee’s memoir of survival and hope.” In his memoir, Len described himself as one of the Vietnamese “boat people” who survived the treacherous sea with twenty-three other people on a small fishing boat while searching for freedom. Lost at sea during the first five nights, hope was also lost. With little energy left, everyone found their strength, destroyed distractions, and stayed the course to find freedom. After a total of twenty-one days, they were saved and brought onto land.

Forgiveness is often described as a gift that the forgiver gives to themselves. When we hold onto anger, resentment, or hurt towards someone who has wronged us, we can carry that emotional burden with us for a long time. This can have negative effects on our mental and physical health, as well as our relationships with others.
By choosing to forgive, we are not necessarily condoning the other person's behavior or letting them off the hook. Rather, we are releasing ourselves from the grip of negative emotions and opening ourselves up to healing and growth. Forgiveness can help us let go of the past and move forward with greater compassion, empathy, and understanding. It can also help us build stronger, more meaningful relationships with others, as well as cultivate a greater sense of peace and well-being in our own lives.
So in essence, forgiveness is for the forgiver because it allows them to free themselves from the burden of negative emotions and open themselves up to greater healing and growth.

He has spent the last nine years of his life teaching others how to overcome hardships, failures, adversities, and the many challenges that life can throw our way. He has faced many of his own difficulties ranging from bankruptcy, job loss, starting over after 40, financial difficulties, an addiction to alcohol that almost took his life, and a traumatic amputation of half of his thumb………just to name a few! Through these challenges, he has been able to develop a strong mindset, positive attitude, and create the resiliency and fortitude he needed to keep moving forward, and the ability and passion to help teach others to do the same.
