S12Ep18 - Kelly Paris on Music, Mental Health & Breaking the Silence
On this episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show with host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt, with special guest in-studio, the amazing Kelly Paris.
Little bit about Kelly’s story from her:
I started Break The Silence in 2017 to use music as a platform to raise awareness for mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and recovery. We have been blessed to grow enough to become a nonprofit in 2019, open a free drop in Resource Center in 2023 and launch our Life Is Beautiful series where we do quarterly venue shows and sponsor touring bands in 2024. I believe that Together We Can Make A Difference by sharing our stories and experiences, creating a safe space to be ourselves, and showing others that it is ok to struggle, we are not alone, and that hope is real.
Short bio:
Kelly Paris is the Founder and Director of Break The Silence, a nonprofit organization focused on mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and recovery using music as a platform. A passionate advocate with lived experience, Kelly has built a movement and community that centers on connection, peer support, and community healing. She leads year-round programming including support groups, youth initiatives, veteran outreach, and public education. Kelly is the driving force behind the annual Break The Silence Festival, which draws attendees and partners from across the U.S., and the Life is Beautiful concert series, which uses music as a platform for hope and awareness. Her work bridges gaps in access, reduces stigma, and empowers people to speak up and seek help. Kelly' passion to make a difference in the lives of others continues to lead Break The Silence in building a stronger, more compassionate world.
