Parents STOP AND LISTEN | Margot Denomme | Hilary Burns | S4EP4
Margot Denomme quit her job as a Crown Attorney (District Attorney in the US), to educate and create awareness about how low self-esteem and social media can harm children, leading to mental health struggles, bullying and legal issues.
She compares her efforts to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and how they have changed the culture about drunk driving. Her first two books, "Mommy Am I Pretty" and "Awesome Inside and Out" address how our children see themselves. Comparing themselves to what they see on social media has led to a new generation with anxiety, depression and a new mental health crisis. Margot is passionate about turning around this crisis. Her journey began in 2013 with the Celebrate You tour where she visited over 150 schools in Canada and the US, addressing the dangers of social media and promoting self-worth.
Margot's new book, The Family Smartphone Guide is a radical way to educate families about the new and growing dangers of giving your children a smartphone too early. Her website: www.raadd.ca stands for raising awareness about digital dangers.
Please tune in to this possibly life changing interview that can educate parents, children, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends to possible predators and dangers of social media. This is not to create fear, but rather to educate and grow awareness.
Margot's work with Kikori, an experiential social emotional learning platform, is taking her work into schools. Contact Margot for speaking engagements and to buy her books at her web site or at info@raadd.ca
