Be Your Own Sherlock Holmes S5E29

Anissa Hudak’s life has been uniquely intertwined with PTSD/Trauma and the military. Not only is she the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran, she was also married to an active-duty Iraq/Afghanistan Veteran for over 23 years. Working with women who have been sexually traumatized is of the utmost importance to Anissa, because she also survived sexual trauma.

In addition to 200 RYT, 500 RYT, & Yoga Therapy certifications, for over 3 years, Anissa volunteered at the Warrior Transition Battalion in Kansas, providing yoga therapy, meditation, and other holistic treatments to soldiers, family members, and staff. She has worked with people with all types of physical conditions; however, she specializes in working with those suffering from PTSD, TBI’s, and trauma-related issues.

While working with clients, one theme was recurring - FEAR. Whether it was being triggered by having to relive an event to deal with their experiences, or how their experiences dictated their decision-making process and shaped their futures, clients were living in FEAR. After doing extensive research, Anissa found that most people were utilizing thought process and coping strategies that were developed when they were about 7 years old. Obviously, this doesn't equip anyone for processing adult situations - especially those that trigger PTSD. Anissa was inspired to learn how to help clients uplevel their coping strategies, while taking FEAR completely out of their healing journey.

As a Yoga Therapist and founder of the Trauma Healing Yoga Therapy Program, Anissa guides others to use effective, science-based yoga therapy and other holistic techniques to manage & heal from PTSD symptoms. This program is for people who want to control their PTSD - not allow it to control them.
