S5 E12 - Kind Words - Jennifer Tomaszek

Jennifer Kreamer Tomaszek, originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, then spent most of her life in Naperville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Jennifer held many jobs in her twenties, in management positions both in retail, with the department chain of Marshall Field & Co. and the weight loss giant, Jenny Craig. However, it wasn’t until the birth of her son, Joshua, in 1993, when she started to realize that a “job” was not going to support her and her son. In 2001, at the age of 30, Jennifer enrolled at Aurora University, in Aurora, Il, and started her path to earn her BS in Nursing. In 2005, not only did she graduate, the top of her class, but Jennifer also collected four top Academic Honor Society memberships. After graduation, Jennifer had a short stint on the Cardiac floor at Rush Oak Park, in Oak Park, Il, right outside Chicago. Next, up was six years at a private Dermatology practice, which was one of the busiest in all the Midwest. At this Dermatology practice, one would assist in a skin cancer surgery and a Liposuction procedure, then off to a skin biopsy, all in one day. The amount of knowledge obtained was priceless. However, God’s calling for Jennifer was just about to happen, when her husband Wes, was transferred to Charleston, SC. Jennifer took a job with South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control as a Public Health Nurse, and it was through this job that Jennifer believes God started to change her life. It was through this job that Jennifer was able to work with the underserved population that included working with prostitutes. Through these patient care interactions Jennifer’s life was blessed and enriched and it taught her what God’s love and grace really can do when you openly spread it the way Jesus intended us to do. Jennifer now lives in Knoxville, TN and is an active member of Central United Methodist Church, in Lenoir City. Although she is not currently working as a nurse, she does keep her nursing license active. Jennifer tries to lead every day asking God, “Please fill me with Your love and grace, so that I may make someone smile today, make someone feel special today, make someone feel loved today, but most importantly, make someone know what it feels like to be loved by You today. Amen.”
