S7 E5 - Healing Intergenerational Trauma with Rima Berns-McGown
Rima Berns-McGown is an intuitive and evidential medium whose focus is healing intergenerational trauma while helping people live their best lives and learn to lean into their own intuition. Despite the fact that Rima is an introvert who was painfully shy as a child, she served as an elected Member of Provincial Parliament in Toronto, Ontario, from 2018-2022 and lectured for many years in Diaspora Studies at the University of Toronto. She is the author of Muslims in the Diaspora: The Somali Communities of London and Toronto (University of Toronto Press, 1999), a comparative study that examines the conditions under which diversity thrives (and what harms it), among numerous other academic and public policy studies and articles. Rima comes from a racially mixed background in South Africa; her family immigrated to Canada because of Apartheid when she was a child. She has spent her life working to create and spread knowledge that nurtures equity, anti-oppression, and anti-racist policies, organizations, and societies. Rima holds a PhD in International Politics from The University of Wales, an MA in International Politics and Economics from The Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Journalism and Political Science from Carleton University in Ottawa. She is a graduate of the Director Education Program of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
