S8 E1 - Yogini Consulting with Angela Saucedo
Angela is currently a Subject Matter Expert in Child Welfare for the Department of Children and Family Services of Los Angeles. She is currently working with the State of California in redesigning the data collection system used by all 58 counties in the State of California. She has been working in the field of child welfare for over 30 years; working within various programs and communities. This has provided her with a unique perspective of the processes of governmental systems, laws and policies. Angela has a Bachelor’s Degree In Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles and a Master’s Degree in Yoga Studies from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. Angela is also a 500hr Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (500 E-RYT) with Yoga Alliance, a certified Reiki Master and a trained meditation teacher (MBSR). Angela has studied with various scholars and teachers from around the world. She teaches various styles of yoga and meditation techniques, integrating different traditions, philosophies and practices, including her experience working in trauma filled environments. Additionally, Angela is the owner of Yogini Consulting. Yogini Consulting offers customized yoga and meditation practices for businesses and individuals, specializing in those working in trauma environments. Because of her extensive work in the field of child welfare, she introduces practices which expand on building compassion, empathy and resilience to those working with marginalized and vulnerable communities. Angela has taken her experience as a yoga and meditation teacher and social worker to create experiences that not only help the individuals doing the noble work of assisting abused and neglected youth, but the organizations that help, as well. Angela assists them with learning different ways to build better capacities of compassion and empathy through yoga, meditation and sound healing, which are vital to the communities they serve. Lastly, Angela dabbles in the fitness arena as well, and has even competed in a National Physique Committee (NPC) Bikini competition, coming in 4th,, in her class. She has brought Yoga into the fitness arena, as not only a way to complement the sport physically, but to also promote positive body imagery for women. She helps women connect with their minds and spirits, as they push the limits of her physical body.
