Biography
At just 17 years old and weighing only 88 pounds, July Franco asked her father to sign her life away allowing her to join the United States Marine Corps—a decision that would forever shape her life. Through hard work, integrity, and dedication, she rose through the ranks to achieve the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. At the onset of the pandemic, July and her brother, Hector Franco, joined forces to establish Franco Hauling LLC, a Service-Disabled, Veteran, Woman, and Minority-owned small business specializing in dump truck hauling and supplier services. In just five years, the company has established itself as a reliable and professional force in the hauling and supply industry. Despite her business success, July remained committed to addressing the lack of representation for women in uniform. She remembered graduating from boot camp at 88 pounds, unable to find anything that fit or reflected the Marine she had worked so hard to become. That experience stayed with her for 23 years, quietly fueling a mission to create change. This mission led her to launch Gunny Gear, a military-inspired clothing brand designed to bring representation, unity, and grit to all who serve—men and women veterans alike—and to the communities that support them. Today, she is proud to be one of the first Service-Disabled Woman Veterans to create a brand of this kind, ensuring that everyone in uniform feels seen, celebrated, and empowered. She dared to dream and works tirelessly to turn those dreams into reality.
