YOU ARE NEVER ALONE
It’s Your Life With Dr. James JC Cooley and Guest Co-Host Paula Shaw - Life Transitions Expert, Grief Specialist, Keynote Speaker, Media Host and Author have a sit-down conversation with Joe S. Cole - Spiritual Director, Trauma Chaplain, and Speaker.
One of the most important things that keeps us from being alone is meaningful human connection—the experience of being seen, heard, and accepted by others. For people in pain, the most powerful form of help is often compassionate presence: listening without judgment and offering empathy rather than trying to immediately fix the problem. Spiritual Direction differs from religion in that it focuses on helping individuals explore their personal relationship with meaning, purpose, or the sacred, while religion generally involves shared beliefs, doctrines, and practices within a faith community. When working with victims of trauma, the most effective approaches emphasize safety, trust, empowerment, and trauma-informed care, creating supportive relationships that help individuals regain a sense of control, resilience, and healing.
